DEAR READER | |||
Our network is constantly growing. For example, PFI has been represented in the German Senate of Economy since July. And please save this date: The UITIC-Congress will take place in Porto from May 16 to 18, 2018. The 2019 IULTCS Congress will be organised by VGCT and be held in Dresden; PFI will, of course, be present. PFI is also actively pursuing its research programme, for example on the topic of Preservatives in Leather Production or how to make High Heels safer. And may I recommend some further reading: Try clicking on the link below to the Newsletter of our Biotechnology Section and discover PFI’s activities in this area! Wishing you a peaceful and relaxing holiday season and a good start to a successful 2018. Dr. Kerstin Schulte

PFI Certifies Ledertech
PFI certified the recycled leather fibre materials from Ledertech Deutschland GmbH. Thanks to the modular system adopted, the proven non-hazardous nature of the materials obviates the need for any duplicate testing by subsequent processors. For those interested:
OEKO-TEX had commissioned a global survey of
consumer attitudes about textile sustainability this summer. The
results give an insight into consumer views and behaviours regarding
climate change as well as well as their knowledge,
perceptions, and concerns about textile sustainability
and certification. | |||

Scuff Marks Left by Outsoles Whether at home or at the gym ‒ scuff marks left on a floor by dark-coloured outsoles raise the alarm for the cleaning brigade. But light-coloured outsoles can also leave scuff marks. And white marks on a floor are just as unsightly.

Safer High Heels Survival of companies in the fashion and
seasonally dependent sectors such as the footwear industry depends upon
their ability to implement the latest trends. Shoe bottoms and
heels are particularly important design elements. And yet
fashionable ladies’ shoes, above all those with high heels, clearly also
have to assure the safety of their wearers. In fact, some
of the designs considered are rejected as unrealisable during the creation
of practically every collection.
